Visiting the Canadian Rockies

by Sven Wieg

Alberta’s National Parks are one of the best known regions in Canada and an absolute tourist magnet. The Rocky Mountains stretch 3,000 km north to south. At the northern part of this expansive mountain range you will discover incredible glaciers and crystal-clear lakes. Beyond the well known, over crowded destinations, such as Lake Louise, there are wonderful places waiting to be discover in the Icefields Parkway.

If you want to leave the tourist crowds behind then head to Yoho National Park in eastern British Columbia, which is a short drive from the Icefields Parkway. We were able to enjoy some solitude as we hiked through the woods around Takakkaw Falls.

We enjoyed our time spent in Jasper National Park the most on our road trip. We were there in late August and were able to experience the region covered in fog, which was very mystical.
