Cowboy Country on Film

Southern Wyoming is a place I’ve spent a lot of time throughout my life. My grandparents have lived there for as long as I can remember, so it’s been a wonderful place to revisit year after year. It feels like true cowboy country — wide open, quiet, and full of space once you get outside of Cheyenne and Laramie. Most people know Wyoming for the Tetons up around Jackson, but what makes Southern Wyoming so special is that hardly anyone knows what’s there.

Every time I visit, I like to shoot exclusively on film with my Leica M6. While I love my Leica Q system, the gritty, timeless vibe of Southern Wyoming can only be captured on film. Between the vast plains outside Laramie, the mysterious rock formations at Vedauwoo, and the rugged peaks of Medicine Bow National Forest, there’s so much beauty in this part of the country, perfect for anyone looking to experience life off the beaten path.
